This is a female Black-chinned Hummingbird sipping nectar from a Coral Honeysuckle flower. I took this picture during the nesting season as this female took a quick break to refuel while building her nest.

Female Black-chinned Hummingbirds build their nest and raise their young single-handedly. They construct their nests using plant fibers, spider silk, and other materials, often weaving them onto a horizontal tree branch or shrub. The female incubates the eggs alone. The typical clutch size is 2 eggs, which she incubates for about 14-16 days.
Due to their ability to hover and fly in all directions, hummingbirds are seen as symbols of resilience, adaptability, and overcoming challenges.
